Protect Your Pennsylvania Driver’s License

One of the most troublesome consequences of a DUI conviction or certain other criminal offenses is losing your driver’s license.

At Ayla O'Brien Law Firm, P.C., in Doylestown, we can provide you with strong, effective representation that allows you to avoid driver’s license suspension or at least reduce the length of that suspension.

Ignition Interlock Limited License

An ignition interlock limited license is a driver’s license issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to an individual whose driving privileges are suspended or revoked as a result of a DUI. This license permits the individual to drive a vehicle equipped with an ignition interlock system for at least part of the term of suspension.

The driver must blow into the ignition interlock device installed in the vehicle to determine if he or she is under the influence of alcohol. If the device detects alcohol, the vehicle will not start.

Under Pennsylvania law, drivers may have to install ignition interlock devices in their vehicles if they have:

  • Been convicted of driving under the influence (DUI)
  • Committed repeat DUI offenses
  • Refused chemical testing

We can help you understand the laws pertaining to ignition interlock devices and assist you in determining if you are eligible for an ignition interlock limited license or, alternatively, an occupational limited license.
